Children's Ministry Resource Commission

It is the mission of the Children's Ministry Resource Commission to facilitate effective ministry to children worldwide by networking the AGWM children's ministry efforts.

John Buenosaid, "When Christ commanded his disciples to take the Gospel to all nations, His command included reaching children. Reaching children with the Gospel is crucial because those early years of life are foundational. The writer of Proverbs 22:6 understood this when he wrote, “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (NAS)

The renowned Christian researcher, George Barna, in his recent book, Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions, confirmed the importance of reaching children because it is during these early years, “…that lifelong habits, values, beliefs, and attitudes are formed.”

There is another reason for ministering to children and that is because there is great need among children. In every city of the world, street kids rummage through garbage and beg for food in their daily struggle to survive. In many cultures, handicapped or physically challenged children are the most neglected group of people.  

The Assemblies of God World Missions has a long history of ministry to children. The Lillian Trasher Orphanage in Egypt was founded in 1911, three years before the Assemblies of God was officially formed. It continues today caring for hundreds of children.

Every one of the more than 250,000 local churches of the Assemblies of God worldwide ministers to children. In addition, AGWM missionaries operate children’s ministries in every region of the world ministering through evangelism, schools, feeding programs and orphanages. The AGWM Children’s Ministries Resource Commission partners with all AGWM regions in ministering to children.

In Matthew 19:14-15, we read about one occasion when Jesus’ disciples restrained the children from going up to Jesus. His response was, “Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
